It's this way in germany. 95% of assholedesign posts are illegal in germany. Media goes crazy here when a company sell 235g instead of 250g for the same price if it has been 250g for a long time.
So small assholedesign still exist but nothing comes close to this sub. :D

UPDATE: I contacted the customer support and they canceled my plan within a 10 minutes. Cheeky bastards.

Add a gift card or virtual card, either with near 0 balance, then delete main card.

i'm in the same boat, i try to cancel and it lead me to the help page, did the charge you any sort of penalization for cancelling early?

I'm not 100% sure this works but I heard it from a friend. Supposedly there's some law in California that states "customers who accept an automatic renewal or continuous service offer online must be able to cancel the service online."

Idk if they check your billing address or not (now that I'm typing this, I'm willing to bet they do) maybe you can VPN into California and then cancel online?

I went through the same process as a california resident. No different :(

I've able to cancel several online subscriptions by changing my billing and shipping address to California. On each of them the button to cancel didn't exist until I changed the address, and then it was magically there.

I tried to cancel my free account. I registered after they made it feel like some pictures were without copyright and free.

The close account button redirects you to a "email us".

Too painful so I blocked them on my email but living in Europe, I believe that's against GDPR that they make it hard for me to remove my personal details...

What if you blocked their charges?

Depends on the terms of service. They may say "If you dispute a charge you are still liable for any billed amounts and we will refer your account to a debt collection agency for which you will be charged these additional fees". Contract or not, you'll have a hard time getting the debt collector off your case without paying.

Block payment. Problem solved. If they complain, you can complain you couldn't cancel easily. If they continue bothering you you can take this to court and you will win.

The only thing is, then you have to pay for court costs and it would probably cost more than if you just deal with their bullshit
